Diamond Segment for Granite Cutting

250-3000mm
Industrial diamond segments engineered for granite blades. Designed to cut hard stones like granite, basalt, and sandstone, they are brazed to a blade core to produce smooth, straight kerfs. These segments deliver faster feed rates, longer service life, and chip-free edges, reducing rework and total costs. Their optimized geometry and metal bond control heat and prevent glazing, ensuring consistent thickness and clean finishes.

Granite Segments for Clean, Fast Slab Cutting

Real Cutting Performance & Key Metrics

DINOSAW diamond segments for granite are the cutting components behind bridge-saw and block-cutter blades — hard-stone formulations brazed onto steel cores by blade manufacturers and re-tipping shops, with specifications spanning blade diameters from 250 to 3000 mm.

250–3000 mm

Blade Diameter Coverage

The segment program follows the blade diameter ladder from Φ250 bridge saw blades to Φ3000 mm class block cutter blades — one formulation program across the hard-stone cutting floor.

15 / 20 mm

Segment Heights

Two height options give blade makers different life-cost configurations: more usable diamond volume where the machine, core stiffness and cutting program support the taller segment.

40 mm

Standard Segment Length

The 40 mm standard length matches common circular blade core geometry — segment seats and brazing fixtures in established blade shops accept the program without retooling.

3.0–4.8 mm+

Diameter-Matched Thickness

Segment thickness scales with blade diameter across the Φ250–600 mm class and beyond: kerf stability and segment strength follow each blade's rim speed and load class.

Applicable materials: Granite, basalt, sandstone, andesite and volcanic rock.

Typical customers: Blade manufacturers, blade re-tipping shops and stone factories running in-house blade refurbishment.

Actual segment life varies with stone hardness, machine parameters and cooling.

Specs and options

Granite segments are specified by blade diameter: 40 mm length with thickness scaling 3.0–4.8 mm and heights of 15/20 mm across the Φ250–600 mm class, continuing to large block cutter specifications. Brazing to the steel core completes the blade.

Core Technology & Segment Structure

Four engineering decisions behind the granite segment program. The numbered points on the segment diagram correspond to the systems below.

Segment Matching Workflow

Segment specification follows four steps: provide the granite class (stone name, photo or sample), the blade diameter and core geometry, the machine parameters, and the current cutting problem if switching suppliers. DINOSAW returns a formulation recommendation — a trial segment batch on the customer's stone confirms it before production orders.

01

Hard-Stone Bond Formulation

Granite segments must balance diamond retention against bond wear: if the bond releases diamond too quickly, the segment disappears before the diamond is fully used; if it retains worn diamond too long, the face glazes and feed rate collapses. DINOSAW tunes bond hardness and diamond grade around the actual granite class — trial cutting on the customer's stone confirms the formulation.

02

Diameter-Matched Segment Thickness

Segment thickness increases with blade diameter because large blades carry higher rim loads and deeper kerfs: the specification follows the blade body instead of scaling one small-blade geometry upward, keeping segment stress within its design class.

03

Height Economics

The 15/20 mm heights are usable diamond volume options, not automatic blade life multipliers: taller segments serve programs where the core, machine power and cut depth support the added height — the life-cost balance is set per blade specification.

04

Braze Compatibility

Standard segment dimensions reduce retooling for blade shops using common brazing fixtures and core slot geometry; custom dimensions remain available for specific core designs — confirm the seat and spacing against the actual blade body before ordering.

05

Kerf Consistency

Segment dimensional tolerance determines kerf consistency around the whole blade: uneven width or height appears at the saw as vibration, uneven segment loading and cut deviation — tolerance at the segment is straightness at the machine.

06

Trial Formulation & OEM

The commercial model is sample-first: stone sample or customer cutting data leads to a trial formulation batch, and the confirmed specification scales to production supply. OEM programs cover blade makers building their own ranges on DINOSAW formulations.

Diamond Segment for Granite FAQ

Common Questions About Diamond Segment for Granite Cutting

It depends on where your cost center sits. Complete blades from DINOSAW make sense when you want one purchase, one quality responsibility and no brazing operation — most stone factories land here, and the blade page in this range covers that path. Segments make sense when you run a blade shop or a large factory fleet with in-house brazing: you hold steel core inventory, brazing jigs and skilled labor, and segment purchasing cuts the blade cost to its components — the core survives multiple segment lives, so the economics improve with every re-braze. The decision variable is utilization: below a few dozen blades per year, complete blades win on simplicity; above it, segments plus in-house brazing win on unit cost. Both paths share the same formulations, so switching paths later carries no technical penalty.

It depends on where your capability sits. Complete blades are the right purchase for stone factories without brazing operations: one purchase, one quality responsibility, no brazing equipment or process control to maintain — the complete granite blade range in this catalog covers that path. Segments are the right purchase for blade manufacturers and established re-tipping shops: you hold steel core inventory, brazing fixtures and skilled labor, the core survives multiple segment lives, and segment purchasing reduces blade cost to its components. The decision variable is utilization and capability: below a sustainable blade volume, or without brazing capability, complete blades win on simplicity; with volume and a brazing line, segments win on unit cost. Both paths share the same formulations, so switching later carries no technical penalty.

Because the stone sets the wear regime, and granite is not one material class. A formulation balanced for medium-hard commercial granite may run hot and wear fast on highly abrasive stone, or glaze slowly on a dense, low-abrasion granite — same segment, different physics. Hard, highly abrasive granites strip the bond quickly and need formulations that protect diamond exposure; dense low-abrasion granites polish the bond surface instead and need freer release. This is why DINOSAW segments are matched per stone class with trial cutting rather than sold as one universal hard-stone formula. If your cutting floor mixes granite classes, segment the program the same way: formulation per class, life baseline per class, and no cross-class comparisons.
